BOTOX

Botox injections are simple, nonsurgical procedures that reduces and/or eliminates fine lines and wrinkles. Botox works by weakening the muscles into which it is injected.  As facial muscles contract, the loose skin above those muscles wrinkles.  By weakening the muscles the wrinkles are reduced.

How long do results last?

The effects of Botox can last from 3-6 months.

How safe are wrinkle-relaxing injections?  How often should you get Botox after your first injection? How many times can you have Botox?

Botox is very safe when injected by an experienced physician such as Dr. Castro.  As soon as your wrinkles return, you can have Botox again.  During your initial consultation Dr. Castro will analyze your face and discuss recommendations.

Is Botox painful?

Botox, itself is not painful.  The pain is associated with the needlestick.  When a volume of fluid is injected under the skin, it temporarily stimulates some small nerve fibers but any pain will subside soon after.

Botox for Hyperhydrosis (Excessive Underarm Sweating)

Sweating is normal and healthy. In fact, your body has between 2 million and 4 million sweat glands. When your body heats up, these glands release sweat to help cool you down.

For some people, sweating can go into overdrive. Severe underarm sweating, also known as severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, is a condition in which the body sweats more than it has to in order to regulate body temperature. The severity of the condition is based on the extent it interferes with your daily activities.

Botox® is a natural, purified protein with the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for "turning on" the body's sweat glands. Botox® "turns off" sweating at the area where it has been injected by blocking, or interrupting, this chemical messenger. Botox® injections are very shallow, meaning that the medicine is injected just below the surface of the skin, where it remains.
